IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Most of our classes are done virtually so that you can relax in the comfort of your own home and learn.  To attend virtually you will need a computer, phone, tablet or another device to get online.  During the class you will see the powerpoint presentation, your instructor, and will be able to communicate back and forth just like being in the actual classroom.


In person classes are all done privately either in office or in your home (these classes are suspended currently due to COVID-19)

Try our new pay what you can afford option!!

We provide comprehensive childbirth education classes in Milwaukee with a twist: take the reigns on what YOU are interested in and want to learn! Choose a few topics or take the complete series to get the best possible start in parenthood. Each session lasts approximately 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 hours depending on the class size, participation, and particular class, so please plan appropriately when signing up for classes.


Class fee: 

  • $40 / $30 / $20  per family (virtual classes) - you choose what you can realistically afford (Please read below)!
  • $60 private class in our office
  • $100 private class in your home


Michelle believes in giving back to her community so her classes are on a pay what you can afford basis.  Her full fee is $40 per class, but she works on the honor system....you know what you can afford, so look at your finances and consider the value of her classes and if finances are an issue please pay what you can afford and attend our high quality classes.

Nutrition, Warning Signs, Signs of Labor, Exercise

Additional Information

In this class we will help you understand proper pregnancy nutrition, help you to understand warning signs and signs of labor.  We also include some simple exercises to help your body prepare for the big day.Please come prepared to do some simple stretching exercises.

This class is essential as you and your partner prepare for the big day.  This class teaches both expectant parents and their partners techniques for comfort, progressing labor, and so much more.  


This is a very interactive class, so please be prepared to move, learn and have fun.

Postpartum and Newborn Care

Unsure of what to expect after the baby comes?  Learn all about what your mind and body will be going through physically and emotionally after the birth.  We discuss how life will change after baby, and also learn about normal newborn appearance, procedures potentially performed, sleeping and feeding patterns, safe sleep, comforting baby, and more.

Breastfeeding and Feeding Your Baby

We’ve got you covered here! This class offers you an understanding of all your options, techniques and the different stages of feeding for you and your baby.
There is a heavy emphasis on breastfeeding in this class. While we do talk about formula feeding the goal of this class is to help make your breastfeeding relationship a success.  
Specific topics included are: 

  • Anatomy of the breasts and how they make milk
  • Benefits of breastfeeding for mom and baby
  • Breastfeeding techniques (latch and positioning)
  • Pumping and storing breastmilk
  • Breast issues and concerns and how to handle them
  • What to do when things aren't going as planned
  • Formula costs and how to prepare formula safely according to the
  • World Health Organizations guidelines
  • Introducing solid foods at an appropriate age

Birth Planning One on One Session

Are you pregnant and starting to think about your birth?  Maybe you aren’t sure what your options are, or you need help navigating your pregnancy and birthing options.....at Mothering the Mother we are here to help you explore your options and help you create an effective birth plan.  


During your 1-2 hr session you will meet one on one with Michelle, and she will help you explore your birth options, and answer any questions that you have.  She will explain everything in easy, down to earth language, so you understand what you are choosing.  She will help you create a birth plan that you can share with your provider, partner, family members, nursing staff, your doula, etc.  

This birth plan will easily get your wishes across to your entire team.

A visual birth plan is not your traditional plan.  It is a plan created out of pictures which helps you to easily communicate your wishes in a way that is easily understood by all.
