Michelle Hardy has been a birth professional for over 17 yrs, and has been teaching for more than 20 yrs. She started her career as a volunteer doula assisting teen and low income women, and from that small start she has grown her business into a thriving organization.
In 2010 she decided to switch from being a solo doula to running a non-profit organization. At the time it was the first doula agency (organization) in Southeastern Wisconsin. From the early beginnings of Mothering the Mother, Inc having only birth doulas Michelle had grown the organization to include:
As her passion and organization grew so did the needs of the group. In 2014 she bought a building to house Mothering the Mother, Inc and in 2016 that building was sold to move into a better facility. Her new facility has four classrooms, and office space
Today, Michelle still runs Mothering the Mother but her main focus is on providing education and lactation support to all women with a special focus in working with low income families. She occasionally takes on birth and postpartum doula clients, and spends a lot of time training and mentoring the next generation of birth professionals. To date Michelle has trained and mentored more than 200 individuals as birth doulas, postpartum doulas, childbirth educators, in lactation support, as well as in creating a thriving birth business.
If you are interested in learning and growing your business and you cannot attend a Business Workshop consider hiring Michelle as a consultant to take you from where you are to where you want to be!!!!
Why is having a mentor so important?
MTM Training and Mentoring believes in supporting the individuals we train so we offers consultations and mentoring because we remember how lost we felt when we first started. We do not want anyone to feel lost, frustrated, or like they cannot do this work. We have extensive experience mentoring new birth professionals, and have been doing so since 2003.
Why a mentor?
A mentor is very important as you move from training to certifying to making this a career. Having someone experienced who knows what the process is like walk beside you can make the difference between frustration and success!
When you train with MTM Training and Mentoring you not only get a high quality training, but you also have a mentor available to answer questions, offer guidance, and provide support.
Your mentor is available via email, phone or text.
MTM Training and Mentoring also offers our e-newsletters (see right column) and our Facebook support group as well.
